Cheeseman Transport Announces 2018 Driver Pay Increase

Cheeseman Transport has announced a driver pay increase for 2018 for all drivers effective June 3rd
2018. The compensation changes were prompted to support growth and expansion of the company and
to reward the current driver base. The increase represents a third increase in 12 months for the drivers.
Details of the most recent compensation change include a two cent per mile increase on the base
practical mileage pay. The increase was targeted to impact all drivers in any assignment. In addition to
compensation, Cheeseman Transport continues to restructure operations allowing for a more
predictable work schedule. Currently they have been successful in developing routes where 50% of it’s’
drivers are on home daily assignments and providing choice of work assignment OTR (over the road),
teams, and regional for everyone else. Truck driving school graduates are also considered for
employment through their apprentice training program. Open positions include Local, Regional, OTR &
Teams. Company officials say "We are committed to enhancing the driver's experience and improving
compensation."
There are other wage enhancements that are happening. The employee is eligible for a referral bonus
for any full time driver that is referred. The existing employee will receive $1,000 once the referee has
been with the company for 60 days and will receive .02 per mile for every mile the existing employee
drives for 12 months. Cheeseman has also increased the stop pay for the Container/Drayage moves.
Drivers performing this work will receive $10.00 extra at Indianapolis, Columbus and Cincinnati and
$30.00 extra in Chicagoland area. This premium is above the stop pay. Also effective 6/3/18, the hourly
rate will increase to $21.50 per hour.
